While the series may have floundered in later episodes and is never at its best when trying to be all things to all people (conspiracy theories, anyone), the acting and writing were absolutely terrific this first season. Michael tries to remove it, and Lincoln helps from the room above. This first season of Prison Break is one of the best and most innovative things ever to hit television. The five inmates use the tunnels beneath the prison to make their way to the infirmary. Once hes inside, Michael, a structural engineer with the blueprints for the prison, begins to execute an elaborate plan to break Lincoln out and prove him innocent.
